Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Ghanas Event websites, applications, and related services. By accessing or using our services, you agree to these Terms, our Community Guidelines, and applicable laws of Ghana. Organiser commercial terms (fees and payouts) and attendee purchase terms are set out in separate sections below.

1. About Ghanas Event

Ghanas Event is an event discovery and ticketing platform for Ghana. We connect attendees with organisers, enable free and paid ticket sales, deliver QR and PDF tickets, and provide organiser tools for publishing and sales tracking. Payments are processed by Paystack.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for keeping credentials secure and for activity under your account. You may create an account directly or by signing in with a third-party provider such as Google, subject to that provider's terms.

Organiser features require an organiser role. Misrepresenting your identity or role may result in suspension.

3. Terms for organisers

This section applies when you publish events, sell tickets, or use organiser tools on Ghanas Event.

3.1 Organiser responsibilities

Organisers are responsible for event content, ticket terms, schedule accuracy, venue permissions, and legal compliance. You must honour ticket commitments, communicate material changes promptly, and follow our Community Guidelines. You grant Ghanas Event a licence to display your event content for operating and promoting the service.

You must maintain accurate payout details (email, phone, bank account and/or mobile money) so remittances can be completed. Incorrect details may delay or fail settlement.

3.2 Organiser fees (ticket sales)

Creating and listing an event has a setup fee of 0.00. Free events and free ticket types do not incur a Ghanas Event service fee.

For paid ticket sales, Ghanas Event charges a platform service fee of 6% of the ticket sale amount on each successful payment (currently 6% of the paid ticket price collected through Ghanas Event checkout). This fee is how the platform is funded for organisers who sell tickets. It is separate from optional promotion packages.

Paystack payment-processing fees are borne by Ghanas Event and are included in the 6% service fee. Organisers are not charged a separate Paystack processing fee on top of that percentage. See Pricing for a plain-language summary.

Optional promotion or boost packages (for example Spark, Rise, Premium, Elite) are one-time charges for visibility. They are not a percentage of ticket sales and are billed separately when you choose to purchase them.

3.3 Paystack payout terms (organisers)

Ticket payments are collected through Paystack. Settlement of organiser funds follows Paystack’s automated payout schedule for Ghana (GHS), commonly described as the next working day (T+1):

  • Successful ticket payments are settled on the next working day after the sale (T+1).
  • Sales on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday are typically settled on the following Monday (or the next working day if Monday is a public holiday).
  • Payouts are not processed on weekends or Ghana public holidays. When a settlement day falls on a non-working day, funds are paid on the next working day.
  • Settlements are sent to the bank account or mobile-money wallet you register for payouts on Ghanas Event, subject to Paystack’s settlement rules and any minimum payout thresholds.
  • You must keep accurate payout details (bank or MoMo). Incorrect details may delay or fail settlement; Ghanas Event and Paystack are not liable for losses caused by wrong account information you provide.

Ghanas Event does not control banking cut-off times, mobile-money network delays, or Paystack operational schedules. Settlement timing may vary when Paystack, banks, or networks experience disruption. For Paystack’s published schedule, see Paystack automated payouts and Paystack Ghana pricing.

Amounts remitted to you are net of the applicable Ghanas Event service fee (6%, which includes Paystack processing costs borne by Ghanas Event), chargebacks, refunds, and any amounts we are required to withhold by law or by these Terms.

4. Terms for attendees

This section applies when you browse events, register for free tickets, or buy paid tickets as an attendee. Attendees are not charged the organiser service fee described in section 3.2; that fee is charged to organisers on paid ticket sales.

4.1 Attendee responsibilities

Attendees should review event details, pricing, refund rules, and entry requirements before purchase. Tickets may not be transferable unless the event policy allows it. QR codes and PDF passes are for personal entry as issued and must not be forged or abused.

4.2 Purchases and ticket delivery

When you complete a paid checkout, you authorise Paystack to charge the payment method you select for the ticket price shown (and any amount clearly disclosed at checkout). After successful payment or free registration, tickets with QR codes are issued to your account and may be available as PDF downloads.

The organiser — not Ghanas Event — is primarily responsible for delivering the event experience described on the listing. Ghanas Event provides the marketplace, checkout, and ticket delivery tools.

4.3 Refunds for attendees

Refund eligibility, timelines, and how to request a refund are governed by our Refund Policy. Refunds to cards or mobile money, when approved, are processed through Paystack and may take additional time depending on your bank or mobile-money provider. Attendees do not receive organiser payouts; payout schedules in section 3.3 apply only to organisers.

5. Payments, fees, and promotions (general)

Payments are processed by approved providers such as Paystack. Organiser service fees and payout timing are described in sections 3.2 and 3.3. Attendee purchase and refund rules are described in section 4 and the Refund Policy. Optional promotion boosts for organisers are charged separately at the prices shown at purchase and on the Pricing page.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Ghanas Event for illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, harmful, or abusive activity. Prohibited behaviour includes spam, impersonation, scraping in violation of policy, manipulating rankings, and interfering with platform security. See Community Guidelines for detailed standards.

7. Content and intellectual property

You retain rights to your content. By posting on Ghanas Event, you grant us a limited licence to host, display, and distribute that content for operating and promoting the service. Platform branding, software, and design remain our property or that of our licensors.

8. Third-party services

Features may rely on third parties (payments, email, hosting, analytics). Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services. Ghanas Event is not responsible for third-party outages beyond our reasonable control. Paystack’s terms apply to payment processing and settlement.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, Community Guidelines, applicable law, or platform safety requirements. You may stop using the service at any time. Provisions that should survive (including liability limits, fees owed, and IP) continue after termination.

10. Disclaimers and liability

Services are provided on an "as is" basis. Organisers, not Ghanas Event, are primarily responsible for the events they publish. To the extent permitted by law, Ghanas Event disclaims implied warranties and limits liability for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform, including delayed settlement by payment providers or banks.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Ghanas Event are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ghana.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, including fee percentages and payout descriptions, to reflect product or provider changes. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date on this page reflects the latest version. Material fee changes for organisers will also be reflected on the Pricing page.
